January 2018 Ministry Update

January 2018

Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ

We hope as you enter this New Year that your focus is on what can you do for the Lord? How will your actions please and glorify Him? Is there something that you can do that maybe you have not done before that will glorify His name? Maybe you can commit to obey “the Great Commission”, or pray for a missionary that you have not prayed for in the past. How about asking the Lord how you could help support a missionary? There are numerous things that you could do if you would just surrender to His will. Ask and keep asking until you get an answer.

We moved to Florida September 2015 to help with my Mom and Dad. Mom passed onto glory December 22, 2017. She had been in the hospital 9 times since May. It was a very trying time on every one. Thankfully we have the blessed hope that Titus 2:13 speaks about, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

Lynne sent the names and addresses of inmates to 5 women who requested them, so they could send Christmas cards to them. We can’t thank you enough for volunteering your time and energy to be a blessing to these folks. Maybe next year we’ll see this number increase.

Since our last Prayer letter, we have sent out used Bibles to a prison in NJ.  I used to go into that prison when I was in NJ. I’m still able to help them by supplying Bibles and our Gospel tracts to them. PTL!

We were also able to send a fantastic KJV Study Bible from Rock of Ages Prison Ministry to an inmate that we have ministered to in the past. We have ministered to her off and on for the last 11 years! Pray for Amy to surrender her life completely to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is Her only hope. She is facing some real serious charges this time that could result in a long sentence.

Lynne has recovered nicely from her surgery that she had Dec. 11. Thank you for praying.

We were able to help out two families this Christmas and make their holiday a little brighter for them. One family was the Grandparents raising 6 of their grandchildren. The grandmother was overcome with joy as she watched her grandchildren open presents. She said to me in a phone conversation, “That the year had been so tough on them and then they get this blessing.” Another family of 3 that was going through tough times, we were able to send them $200.00. Thank you, all that gave to make this possible.

We are organizing a Conference for some time in early February to discuss job solutions for the folks we minister to. Some automatically assume that they are unemployable because they are an ex-con. Granted, being an ex-con makes it harder but it is not impossible. We want to have resources available for them to help make their transition back into society easier.

Please send us any prayer requests you might have.
Until next time, may you glorify God in all you say and do!

Blessings.

Chaplain Rick & Lynne Vincent

December 2017 Ministry Update

December 2017

Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ,

Time is flying by, Thanksgiving has come and gone. Christmas is right around the corner and will be here before we know it. We are doing something different for us this year at Christmas. We had a supporting family approach us saying they would like to help a family for Christmas and could we help them find one. We found a family where the grandparents are raising 6 of their grandchildren. We have another family experiencing financial difficulties and we will be able to help them. If you would like to help a family please contact us ASAP so we can make this a better Christmas for them. These families are former inmates and their wives and children and one has a family member currently in prison. We as Christians, are showing the love of Christ to these families. That is the Christmas spirit. It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Lynne had her gall bladder removed and a hernia repaired on December 11. It was same day surgery, believe it or not! She is resting comfortably and recuperating nicely.

We hosted Johnny Rowlett, A Christian Inspirational Country Western Singer at the Orlando Outreach December 8.
He donated his time to entertain the residents who live there. His whole show glorified our Lord and Saviour. He gave his testimony and encouraged those who did not have a relationship with Christ to get it settled. We supplied hot dogs, chips, and soda to all who came.

Our newest tract has been shipped from the printer. It is titled Finally Free to serve a life Sentence?? We should have it back this coming Monday. We mentioned it back in August and then it ended up on the back burner. We hope and pray that souls will be saved because of it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

All for His glory,

Chaplain Rick & Lynne Vincent

September-November 2017 Ministry Update

September -November 2017

Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ,

Please forgive our delay in keeping you all updated with what we have been doing. We have been in Florida for 2 years as of the end of September.

The end of August, my mother had surgery. The surgery was a success but her recovery has been slower than expected. She came home from the nursing home just before hurricane Irma came directly over our area. Weekly trips to the Doctor’s and all the visits from the visiting nurses and now here we are in the beginning of November.

Of course, our ministry has continued during this time. I was having a difficult time at the state prison and met with the Chaplain explaining to him the difficulties I was experiencing. We worked through those problems and now I visit there on a weekly basis, instead of twice a month. It has also triple my work load there.  PTL! I have more students in the Prison Bible School.

We have been living with my Mom and Dad since we came here. The mobile home directly across the street from them came up for sale. We were able to buy it September 19, but it needs a lot of renovation! We will able to still continue to help them but we will have our own space to retire to at the end of the day. We are still renovating it and probably have another month of work before we can move in. We are anxious to see this come to fruition.

The Orlando Outreach is a blessing to us each and every Saturday. We have been meeting folks in local neighborhoods and asking for any Bibles they might have that they are not using, that could be donated to our ministry so we can donate them to the men coming out of prison who might need them. We also send the Bibles into different prisons around the country. The men coming out of prison need clothing, small kitchen appliances, fans, space heaters, etc… so we have been collecting these items and taking extra trips to Orlando to drop it off.

We had a request in early October from a prison ministry in Atlanta, GA asking us for 5,000 copies of one of our tracts, Menace to Society, that we had not reprinted because we had been printing other tracts and bookmarks. They wanted it to include in the bags they are put together to distribute to 5,000 inmates in their area. I shared the need with some folks I know and they donated the money for us to reprint them and the ministry in GA sent us the money for postage. We got all that done and they actually received them November 3! PTL!

We broadcast on the following radio stations: every Sunday morning on KIOU 1480 AM/FM Shreveport, LA at 10:45 a.m. ‘til 11:00 a.m. and on WDZY AM/FM 1290 Richmond, VA every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. ‘til 1:45 p.m. and on WYYC AM/FM 1250 every Thursday 12:30 ‘til 12: 45 p.m. We need individuals or churches to come along side of us to sponsor these programs. If you’d like to sponsor one of our broadcasts, please contact us, we would love to have your support.

Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving.

If you have any prayer requests please let us know, so until next time.

May God richly bless you and yours.

August 2017 Ministry Update

Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ,

Here is our monthly update with some of our activities.

The Orlando Outreach is a blessing to us each and every Saturday. We recognized a need with these men when they are released from prison. They need transportation to get around. We have been accepting bicycles to take to them. We have taken four bikes so far and we have one outside to take down this week. Two other individuals have promised more donations of another four coming soon.

We have presented our ministry to some churches locally. Praying that God moves upon them to support us regularly.

We are working on a new project at our county jail. It is a newsletter for the facility called Fully Pardoned. It will feature short poems, drawings, etc… contributed by the inmates. Hopefully, our first edition will be ready for distribution in September. Please pray that souls will be saved because of our efforts.

We are also working on a new tract called Finally Free. We have the first draft of it but we will be making some changes before we will be ready to send it to the printer.

Of course, requests for Bibles and tracts continue to come in. We received a request for tracts to go to the Mt. Olive Correctional Complex in Mt. Olive, W. VA. It is the male maximum security prison for the state of W. VA. We sent them a Priority Mail box and the Postal clerk said, “It weighs 14 lbs!” I replied, “I must be getting better at packing them!”

July 2017 Ministry Update

July 2017

Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ,

I can’t believe it this late in the month already. Sorry for the delay in writing but in a minute you’ll have an idea why.

On July 6th, I flew to Philadelphia and then stayed with South Jersey Aftercare in one of their halfway houses. My daughter said, “Dad are you staying in a halfway house? I replied, “Yes, but there is nothing to worry about. The men that live there, I ministered to them while they were in prison. I know over half of them!” It was a great experience and to me it was only further ministering.” It was only a natural thing for me to do. That evening, I was able to preach at their Thursday night meeting. My topic was on Forgiveness and the passage was Matthew 18:21-35. Afterwards, the men spent the next 15 minutes discussing the importance of forgiving those that have hurt them.

Sunday morning, I presented our ministry to Crossroads Baptist Church in Lakehurst, NJ during their Sunday School hour. The church voted to support us. PTL!!!  I preached the morning service and again my topic was on Forgiveness and the passage was Matthew 18:21-35. This is a topic that many people totally miss the boat on and we need to forgive. According to numerous passages if we don’t forgive God will turn us over to the tormentors! The message was well received. After the morning service, I left for Essex County Jail in Newark to visit with an inmate that I had ministered to in the past. I had an hour and a half visit with him. PTL! It definitely encouraged him. Plus, for me, it was a very rewarding day. I flew home Monday and spent eight hours trying to get home.

I’ve been using a book, The Freedom Factor by Dr. Bruce Wilkinson. I was able to order a case of them and I will now be donating them to facilities I work in and have relationships with. It is an excellent book and I know for those who read it and apply the teaching, it will change their lives.

If you’d like to sponsor one of our broadcasts, please contact us, we would love to have your support.

If you have any prayer requests please let us know, so until next time.

May God richly bless you and yours.

Bicycles and Radio?- An Update from Chaplain Rick

Our ministry for the men in Orlando has now expanded into a clothing, men's toiletries, bicycles and bicycle locks ministry!

If you are like most folks, you are probably wondering what do they need bicycles for? The answer will make sense to you once you realize that their driver's license probably expired while they were in prison. They do not have a car. When they are first released the most important thing for them to do is secure housing. Most do not leave prison with a lot of money so public transportation is a luxury to them.  A bicycle fills a lot of immediate needs. To date we have been able to give out 3 bicycles and I'm supposed to pick up another one tomorrow and I already have a request for it!

We do a radio program that airs in Shreveport, LA and Richmond, VA. The program airs on AM and FM stations. The stations are part of the Wilkins Radio Network. Today the radio station contacted me offering me the rest of June and July for free and then $145.00 a month for their station in York, PA, covering Harrisburg, York, Lancaster and surrounding areas, including a portion of Maryland. The market covers 1.1 million people in the primary signal area. It would also air on their AM and FM stations. That is getting the Gospel out to all those people at a great price. If you could sponsor a month or 6 months or a year, think of the folks that might be reached with the Gospel. I have to give them an answer asap. Please will you take that step of faith and answer God's call?  Let me know if you will donate to this.

Many blessings to all of you,

Chaplain Rick & Lynne Vincent
